Grant Recieved for Crime Stoppers Road Signs (2012/09/26)

Crime Stoppers Organization Receives Their Sign(s)

You may have heard of Dunn County Crime Stoppers. Or maybe not. In the next month or so, you won’t be able to miss them however, thanks to a grant from Dunn Energy Cooperative’s Operation Round Up program.

The Dunn County Crime Stoppers program went “live” on February 1, 2012, but the work started long before that. The program is a non-profit entity that helps local law enforcement agencies by forwarding your anonymous tips. It is a three part program. There is a 24-hour toll free number (1-855-TIP-DUNN) that you can call with crime tips; a text to tip program where you can text information that you may have anonymously to Crime Stoppers (Text TIPDUNN plus your message to 274637 (CRIMES)); and there is also the website (dunncocrimestoppers.com) in which you can submit information anonymously.

“The Dunn County Crime Stoppers program recently received an order of Crime Stoppers street signs which display the programs anonymous toll free tip line as well as its web address. These signs will be placed at strategic locations throughout Dunn County in an on-going effort to educate the public about this community based crime fighting program,” said Marshall Multhauf, Sergeant with the Dunn County Sheriff’s Dept. as well as the Crime Stoppers Law Enforcement Liaison.

The Crime Stoppers program is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community members who volunteer their time, with the assistance of a law enforcement liaison. The program is not included in any departments general operation budgets, therefore relies on contributions from the community to fund their operating costs.

“The purchase of these distinctive signs could not have been possible without a generous grant received through Dunn Energy Cooperative’s Operation Round Up grant program. Dunn County Crime Stopper board members are eager to see the increased exposure the program will receive from the placement of this signage,” added Multhauf.
